The journey
Climb through bamboo on the slopes of the Virunga volcanoes for an hour in the company of a mountain gorilla family, then return to a fireside lodge facing the peaks.
Day by day
Day 1
Arrive in Kigali
Met at Kigali International Airport. Afternoon visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, then a 2½-hour drive north to the Musanze foothills.
Day 2
Gorilla trek
Early briefing at Kinigi park headquarters. Trek with your ranger team to a habituated gorilla family for one unhurried hour.
Day 3
Golden monkeys & twin lakes
Morning with the golden monkeys in the bamboo, or the hike to Dian Fossey's Karisoke grave site. Afternoon on Lakes Burera and Ruhondo.
Day 4
Return to Kigali
Slow breakfast at the lodge, then a private transfer back to Kigali for your onward flight.
